Installation of a Room Divider Wall in a Hotel in Singapore Project Background

Project Background

A renovation project for a boutique hotel in downtown Singapore required the installation of a new interior divider wall to separate rooms and common areas. The top priorities were minimizing noise between rooms, speed of construction, and a smooth, crack-free finish. The use of environmentally friendly materials was also a consideration.

Application of JOE Joint Bonding Adhesive

• Application: Installation of thick gypsum board panels with a sound-insulating core.

• Method: JOE Joint Bonding Adhesive was used to bond the edges of the gypsum panels and as a thin layer on the steel frame before the panels were installed. The adhesive was also applied to the joints between the panels to ensure soundproofing and a flat surface before painting.

• Volume: Approximately 700 m² of interior walls.

Relevant JOE Bond Technical Specifications

• Weight: 40 kg/bag

• Consumption (estimated): 2.2 kg/m²

• Drying Shrinkage: Very low (ensuring a smooth surface with minimal cracking)

• Bonding Strength: Excellent on a variety of substrates, including gypsum panels and light steel.

• Ease of Application: Allows workers to achieve a neat finish quickly.

Cost Estimates

• JOE Joint Bonding Adhesive Price: SGD 50/bag (estimated price in Singapore)

• Material Requirement: 700 m² * 2.2 kg/m² = 1,540 kg

• Number of Bags: 1,540 kg / 40 kg/bag = 38.5 bags, rounded up to 39 bags.

• Total Material Cost: 39 bags * SGD 50/bag = SGD 1,950

Benefits Achieved

• Superior Finishing Quality: JOE Bond's extremely low shrinkage properties ensure smooth, crack-free joints, crucial for high aesthetic standards in hotels.

• Improved Soundproofing: The strong, dense bond between gypsum panels helps improve sound insulation performance, creating a quieter environment for guests.

• Renovation Efficiency: Ease of use and optimal labor time expedite the installation process, minimizing disruption to hotel operations.

• Long-Term Reliability: Strong, durable joints reduce the need for future repairs and maintenance, saving hotel operating costs.
